Great Dunham village, Norfolk
Great Dunham is 6 miles from Swaffham and roughly 8 miles from Dereham. The village has its own small primary school and the village church, St Andrews, contains a chancel and porch dating from the 15th century. The central tower and nave are all pre-Conquest, apart from repairs and the impressive tower has lovely arched windows. Great Dunham is where Sir Robert Walpole (1676-1745), statesman who is generally considered to be Britain’s first Prime Minister was educated, prior to going to Eton.
