Deopham village, Norfolk
The quiet village of Deopham is about 5 miles south west of Wymondham, between the villages of Great Ellingham and Hingham. Its church, St Andrew, is an impressive building that dates in part to the 15th century and can be seen for miles around. During World War II, Deopham Green airfield was built as a base for the United States Eighth Army Airforce (USAAF). B-17 Fortresses began combat operations on 5 February 1944 and flew 250 missions from Deopham Green.
