Bacton-on-Sea is known for its North Sea gas terminals that pump gas around the United Kingdom.
Bromholm Priory, or Bacton Abbey as it is more commonly known, was founded in 1113 as a cell to Castle Acre Priory. Today, only ruins remain of the former Cluniac Monastery. The Priory is mentioned in Chaucer’s ‘Canterbury Tales’ when the Miller’s Wife cries, “Helpe Holy Cross of Bromholm”.

Accommodation ratings
The English Tourism Council, RAC and AA ratings mean that you know
that the accommodation has been thoroughly checked and rated before
you make your booking.
Hotels are given a rating of between one and five stars; the more
stars, the higher the quality of room, service and facilities. Guest
accommodation, which includes bed and breakfast, guesthouses and
farmhouses, is rated in the same way, but with diamonds rather than
stars. The levels of quality and customer care get progressively
higher as the diamonds increase.
